Born December 5, 1972, and raised in Middletown, New York, Mike Sayre’s racing journey spans more than three decades and multiple disciplines of motorsports.
Mike’s passion for racing began early. In 1990, he served as a crew member for Frank Jashembowski’s #88 Big Block Northeast Modified team, gaining firsthand experience in competitive short-track racing. That foundation built the mechanical knowledge and competitive drive that would define his career.
In June of 1994, Mike relocated to California, where he expanded his racing resume. He competed as a drag racer on and off through 2003, before transitioning back into oval track racing in 2004 as a crew member for Joe Flower. That same season, the team captured the Pure Stock Championship at Silver Dollar Speedway — a milestone achievement early in his California career.
Mike continued drag racing through 2016, sharpening his tuning, setup, and mechanical expertise before stepping back into the driver’s seat on dirt. As Owner/Driver in the Eco Sprint class at Silver Dollar Speedway, he finished 3rd in points during his rookie season and repeated a 3rd-place points finish in 2017.
In 2018, Mike competed in the Crate Sprint class at Marysville Raceway Park, finishing 2nd in points. That same season, he captured two feature wins at Orland Raceway, further establishing himself as a competitive and consistent front-runner in the division.
From 2019 to 2020, he raced Limited Sprints in Oregon, though the schedule was limited due to COVID restrictions.
Between 2021 and 2023, Mike made select 360 Sprint Car starts at Silver Dollar Speedway, continuing to expand his experience in higher horsepower divisions.
In 2025, Mike stepped into the role of Crew Chief for Eddy Lewis and his CIFCA Funny Car team, finishing 10th in points. His leadership, tuning knowledge, and deep mechanical background played a key role in the team’s competitiveness.
In 2026, Mike joined the Pacific Highway Rentals #92 Sprint Car team as a crew member, working alongside driver Andy Forsberg and contributing to one of Northern California’s premier sprint car programs.
From modifieds to drag racing, sprint cars to funny cars, Mike Sayre’s career reflects dedication, versatility, and a lifelong commitment to motorsports excellence.
