Richard Forsberg has been involved in racing since early 1960. As a youngster, he would help his neighbor Ralph Clay with his hard top. He picked the # 92 because Leroy Van Connett had that number when Richard would watch from the grandstands as a little kid. Richard rattle-canned a 92 on the side of his car and he was off to the races. The first couple of years he spent racing hard tops at the track in Auburn.
In the early 70's he spent racing super modifieds on the pavement at All American Speedway in Roseville, CA. During the mid to late 70's he raced super modifieds on dirt at West Capitol Speedway in West Sacramento, CA.
In 1980, Richard would run his first Sprint Car race with NARC and would compete in that series until 1986. During the '86 season the Forsberg family could no longer afford to run 410's any longer, so in 1988 when Grass Valley started a cast iron 360ci division, Richard built a 360ci and won the very first night out. He continued to race 360's until the 1993 season, moving aside for his son Andy to take over full-time in 1994.
Winning races his entire career from hard-tops to super-modifieds to winged and non-winged 410's and at the end of his driving days in a winged 360 where he still won two main events in his final year of driving. Richard is still a big part of Forsberg Racing, taking care of the cars during the week, and still goes to every one of Andy's races throughout the year.
Mike Proschold has been with the Forsberg Racing Team since 1978 back when Andy's dad Richard was racing super modifieds at West Capitol Speedway in Sacramento, CA. Mike does all of the engine maintenance on the cars each week, he is also very good at fabricating parts and pieces that would normally have to be purchased from a race part manufactures. Since Mike is from the day and age of home made race cars and parts he knows how to save the team money. At the track he is also great at "Mac Guyvering" parts on the car in a hurry to get the car back on the track just to finish a race. Mike has been with the Forsberg's throughout Richard's days in super modifieds, his first sprint car in 1980, Andy's first sprint car race in 1992 and as of 2010 still helping out the team any way he can.
Boo got his start in 1985 at the Ernie Purcell Speedway in Grass Valley, Ca. A family friend and the track announcer, William "Spence" Spencer introduced him to Ruff-n-Ready, CA, driver Jack Burt. He would help Jack Burt through the 1992 season. Jack and his family moved to Montana in late 1992.
The '93 season Boo started helping a friend from high school, Auburn driver Larry Lightfoot. Boo worked for Larry until he retired in July of 1995. He then began with Forsberg Racing at the end of the '95 season and has been with them ever since.
